DRESS COLLECTION FIRST RELEASE FEB 2019
Inspired by my love of the dreamy event décor and styling of Australian weddings and events, this photo shoot captured the first release of the new collection from Georgina Louise. After living in Australia a few years ago, I fell in love with the décor and fashion – especially in Byron Bay. So for my first debut collection I wanted to incorporate this in my own way. I contacted Amy from Polka Dot Florist quite early on, she is amazing at what she does and nailed it! We went for dried palms, gold spray painted ferns, pampas grass and accents of light pink for the flowers. All featured on the copper rail back drop at our chosen location, Yeldersley Hall. A traditional country house with some amazing locations, which perfectly fit our vision. Set on the edge of the Peak District, we chose both interior and exterior shots.
From my past background, specialising in textiles, I mainly design with fabric first by combing different laces and fabrics to create a unique look. To get a perfect dress, I believe it’s three things – choice of fabric, cut and design. Textural elements are always featured and I achieved this by mix and matching fabric – using varying laces and trims.
The first release of the new collection is mainly made up of bridal separates, which creates versality but also perfect for bespoke fitting – to see what shapes and fabrics may work best for your own design, if this is the route you choose to go down. These pieces can also be purchased ready-to-wear to your measurements, as an addition to your existing bridal look. The first part of the collection includes: one full length dress, four lace jackets, one pair of culottes, two bridal two pieces in matching fabrics and one cropped bodice.
My vision was to create an elegant and relaxed collection which is all about how you style it. After choosing the fabrics, I wanted to combine this with the shapes seen on the classic icons – with a contemporary update and designs. This collection includes varying hem lengths, layering lace, plunging necklines and open backs.
SALLY – The dress featured here is our ‘Sally’ dress. Ivory crepe with a delicate lace plunge neckline. Matching lace cap sleeve trim and an open back, which can be left loose or made to a tighter fit.
ANNA– A pale ivory satin two piece. These bridal separates are perfect for creating that classic look but with the cropped bodice, a unique take on this timeless shape. Featured here, the bodice is long line but can be adjusted when created to be as cropped as desired. An additional feature are pockets! Something we love here at Georgina Louise. This look is shown with or without the 3D lace jacket, an easy way to switch up an outfit or can to be worn during the ceremony for a bit of extra cover.
SYDNEY– Consisting of a crop top and matching skirt in a creamier ivory. With fabric that flows beautifully. Details including a lace train with matching cap sleeves. Ribbon bow tie on the back.
ESKA – Our modern crepe culottes. A versatile piece which could be worn for many different occasions – to wear after your day. Go crazy with the styling for these – they can be as dressed up or down as you wish. Worn with court shoes, seen on this photoshoot or ‘barely there’ sandal heels. Styled with our lace jacket – spot net tulle sleeves and a delicate floral lace with floaty sleeves and a ribbon tie fastening on the back. Perfect for an evening look.
With featured florals, we went for an understated and minimal bridal look for the hair and make-up. With a glowing and dewy look for the skin, and coral eyes combined with low buns and relaxed wavy hair to finish off the look.
For hair accessories, we selected minimal and modern styles. Featuring mixed metals, subtle space inspired hair pieces. This was worn with all looks, featuring different pieces depending on the outfit.
For the veils, we went for a spot net long length to complement our ivory satin two piece.
Each dress can be found with an individual name on our ‘COLLECTION’ page on the website.
The second part of the collection will be released slowly over 2019 and will be available in the Autumn to purchase from the studio directly.
I want to end this blog post by listing all the amazing suppliers I worked with on this photoshoot! A lovely team all based in Derbyshire/Nottingham.
